This book portrays a richly eventful cycle of life along the reaches of Botswana’s Khwai River, a narrow link between the permanent wetlands of the Okavango Delta and the sands of the semi-desert Kalahari. Richard du Toit and Gerald Hinde spent a year traveling through this wild region to experience and photograph the pageant of the seasons: the summer rains ; the gathering wildlife along the shrinking river in winter; and finally the dry months of waiting for the rains to return. Richard and Gerlad set out to capture the moods of this remote wilderness, and to document the fascinating encounters they were privileged to witness between the creatures that live there. The photographs chosen for this book depict the beautiful, the unusual and the extraordinary – images which convey the drama integral to the timeless progression of the seasons in this ancient and yet dynamic land.
